Seattle: Trees Are Sentient

Only 34 countries in the world (out of 195) legally define domestic animals as sentient beings. This makes it an extraordinary act of forward thinking for any body of government to recognize trees as sentient, conferring on them individual legal rights.


That’s exactly what the city council of Terrasse-Vaudreuil, a small municipality Quebec did on June 9th of this year.
